Help us Bring More Live Donor Liver Transplant Training to Latin America and the Caribbean by Donating Now

In the past year, Fundahigado America (FHA) has completed the first successful pediatric live donor liver transplant in the Dominican Republic (DR). FHA also worked with a group of Doctors in El Salvador to provide liver transplant training. In 2022, FHA aims to start an educational transplant program in El Salvador and will continue its effort in Guatemala conducting the first pediatric live donor liver transplant. Additionally, FHA will continue their efforts transplanting patients in the DR until the group of Doctors are fully trained and can successfully treat patients on their own. FHA has implemented a goal to perform at least two more cases in Venezuela (trained site) that will serve as hands-on training activities for countries involved in the training programs.

Every center that receives training will be able to provide treatment for more patients in the future, allowing access to life-saving surgeries for low-income families. The training will expand to other groups of doctors and medical centers throughout the country, thus improving the general health system, economy, and society.
